Lisa
Chief Executive Officer

Lisa Jansen began her role as Chief Executive Officer at Nebraska Hematology-Oncology in February 2025.

She is a transformational healthcare executive with 18+ years of experience leading high-performance growth organizations. She is a data-driven operational change agent specializing in establishing and leading transplant and specialty care programs. Lisa’s history of driving double- and triple-digit revenue gains while driving down expenses is as brand-defining as her ability to inspire a culture of success as a respected leader and role model.

Lisa was handpicked for her role as Director of Digestive Diseases, Kidney, Transplant, and Specialty Care programs for Nebraska Medicine, Omaha region’s premier academic health network. She was tasked with developing and implementing strategic initiatives to fuel revenue growth and curtail expenses while engendering trust among diverse stakeholders. Working with key physician leaders, she developed growth strategies that generated triple-digit growth (134%) while lowering the revenue to expense ratio from 45% to 39% in 5 years.

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lisa inspired greatness in 100% of her team leaders. Under her leadership, her team supported inpatient operations by deploying 20+ RNs from specialty programs while meeting and exceeding annual goals with less staffing.

Prior, Lisa served as Director of the Primary Care Clinical Program and Ambulatory Operations, another role for which she was handpicked. The position was created after Nebraska Medicine acquired UNMC Physician’s group. Lisa led efforts to integrate the UNMC Physicians clinics into Nebraska Medicine’s leadership structure with new policies, procedures, and financial systems. She also directed the management and operation of 7 outpatient clinics within various settings.

While at the helm, Lisa developed and led a 5-year primary care expansion strategy to provide more patient access to care. She implemented the Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care across all 14 Nebraska Medicine Primary Care clinics, earning the Joint Commission Accreditation award based on improved practice organization, lower costs, quality, efficient care, and compliance. To her credit, she turned around key indicators of success in 1 year, surpassing expected results.

Concurrently, Lisa was selected by the executive team to take the reins of Internal Medicine Primary Care and Multispecialty Clinic while still Administrator of UNMC Division of Rheumatology. She implemented new processes and supported a novel team-based care delivery approach to reduce care gaps, improve turnaround time, and enhance patient communications. During her tenure, the program passed all regulatory, safety, and tracer surveys with scores of 100% and achieved the highest patient satisfaction ratings.

For 8 years, Lisa directed UNMC’s Division of Rheumatology. Hired as the program’s first administrator, she led the development and planning efforts for the national rheumatology research network alongside key physician leaders, including investigator-initiated research protocols, annual educational symposiums, and increased national participation and recruitment of patients into studies. Notably, she drove revenue growth of 66% captured over 2 fiscal years.

Prior to earning a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, Lisa began her career at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Her role as a management and financial analyst ignited her passion for the business side of healthcare and provided a proving ground for her to develop her leadership strengths.

Ever committed to professional growth and excellence, Lisa completed an executive education leadership development program at Northwestern University and several leadership development programs offered through Nebraska Medicine. Extending her leadership strengths and unstoppable energy to benefit the community, Lisa serves on the board of Make-A-Wish Nebraska, and previously served on the board of the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Omaha.

Above all, Lisa takes every opportunity to mentor and support others in their professional development. Recently, she served as a mentor for 4 leaders in 1 year, initiating succession and individual development plans with each of them reaching their goal of a promotion/expanded role within that same year.
