Job Summary:

This position is responsible for greeting patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner. Checking patients in, verifying and obtaining the necessary demographic, insurance and financial information. Updating the appropriate information into the electronic billing and medical record. Collecting applicable copayments and co-insurance. Obtaining necessary authorizations and medical records. Maintaining appointments in the electronic scheduling software and following office scheduling policies. This position will serve as liaison between patient and medical staff. Several tasks are required on a continual basis. Excellent multitasking and problem solving skills are essential.

Typical Physical Demands:

Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.  Requires sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.  Work is performed in the reception and business office areas.

Typical Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office environment and requires desk work. Frequent contact with patients and third party agencies. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.    Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.


High school graduate or GED. Associate or College degree preferred.


Minimum of one year experience in a medical practice.
