At Nebraska Hematology-Oncology, our mission is to thoroughly understand your illness and seek the optimal medical therapy and outcome for you. To achieve this, we place special emphasis on communication, encouraging our patients to take an active role in their treatment.

We feel that our patients are the most important part of the health care team. Here’s what you can do to become more involved in the treatment process:

Bring family and/or friends

You are encouraged to bring family members or friends with you to your appointments. They are often a source of great support, and their involvement provides them with a greater understanding of how they might help you.

Ask questions

Write down any questions you may have and bring them with you. Then write down the answers in case you need to refer back to them.

Learn all you can

Nebraska Hematology-Oncology provides many educational resources:

  • We offer a library of helpful materials that can be checked out by patients or family members.
  • Visit our Cancer Treatment and Resources pages to find a variety of information and websites that offer details on current treatments, support groups, research trials, and more.

Exercise

Exercise has been shown to help reduce fatigue, improve strength, and increase overall feeling of well-being. Read more about how Physical Activity may benefit you.
